Gluten free
Sparrows Coffee, Tea and Newsstand is now carrying some of my gluten free trail mix bars. Cranberries, cashews, almonds, pepitas, molasses and brown sugar in a banana and gluten free organic flour and oat bar.

Adding some color this season
If you have an issue with food dye - health or otherwise - you should know that I’m only using tints from home-processed beets and red cabbage this Valentine’s Day season. This is much safer for those who have allergies or object to the chemicals. Another heartening recipe is being offered, too: Winter squash empanadas using only locally grown squash. Gettum!

The eggs that are now being recalled due to salmonella aren’t going to be destroyed like you would think. They will be pasteurized until the offending bacteria are dead, then reused in cookies, cakes and as other egg products you will commonly find in a supermarket.
